Our journey began with a comprehensive product discovery phase. We delved deep into the market, employing techniques such as in-depth interviews and Computer-Assisted Web Interviewing (CAWI) surveys. We honed our understanding of the challenges SMBs face, ensuring our solution aligns perfectly with their needs. Workshops, extensive research, and analysis laid the foundation for a robust product.

Product Design

Product design was a meticulous process involving building the business model, early prototypes, refining UX/UI, and iterating our designs based on feedback. User testing allowed us to fine-tune the user experience. Our commitment to a seamless, user-friendly platform was unwavering, resulting in a product designed to cater to our target audience.

Strategy & Traction

During this phase, we utilized quantitative CAWI surveys, revealing a remarkable 65% interest from SMBs. This data guided not only our product refinement but also the development of a robust business model. In parallel, we gained traction with sellers, resulting in 15 signed letters of intent by October 2023, indicating their eagerness to integrate CommonWorld into their businesses.

What do you expect the result to be?

We anticipate a democratized marketplace where even the smallest of businesses can co-own high-value assets, fostering community collaboration, reducing economic disparities, and driving sustainable growth.

How intense is the problem?

The problem is quite intense. Lack of access to critical assets can severely stifle an SMB’s growth, potentially leading to stagnation or even business failure in competitive markets. 50% of 400 mln SMBs globally do not have access to formal credit.

How big an opportunity is there?

With SMBs being major contributors to most economies, the potential to tap into this market and drive growth is massive. Word Bank estimates that there is an unmet financial need for 5,2 trillion $ yearly in the SMB segment.

What differentiates fractional ownership from other sharing economy models?

While both fractional ownership and other sharing economy models fall under the broader umbrella of shared utilization, the key distinction is the element of genuine ownership in the former. In fractional ownership, participants have an actual stake in the asset, be it real estate, art, or other high-value items. This not only grants them tangible rights but also the benefits of potential appreciation. Furthermore, it offers the liberty to manage and utilize the asset without the risk of losing it due to financial or economic challenges. In contrast, models like renting or leasing lack this ownership dimension.

Who is your customer?

Our primary customer is small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs), particularly those that are unbanked or underbanked, seeking to acquire high-value assets to grow and expand their operations.

Where is the rocket science here?

The rocket science here isn’t about reinventing the wheel, but rather about ingeniously repurposing existing mechanisms. While the concept of shared ownership isn’t new, what’s innovative is how and where we apply it post-adaptation. We may not be patenting shared ownership, but we’re pioneering a tool to broaden its application, embellishing it with essential components for managing this co-ownership. Similarly, co-management exists within individual companies, but it hasn’t been utilized intercompany. Traditional shared ownership often necessitated the formation of a joint legal entity or partnership. In our model, every party retains their independence, avoiding the constraints and commitments of forming an official joint business. This is where the true innovation and „rocket science” lie.
